Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a list of the most commonly asked questions by people who are new to Craniosacral Therapy.
What is Craniosacral Therapy (CST)?
Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch, hands on treatment. It releases areas of restriction in the Craniosacral System, which is made up of fluid and membranes which surround, protect and nourish the brain and spinal cord. These membrane are composed of fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds and connects every structure in the body. This whole body fascial network allows me to detect areas of tension and restriction and help facilitate release where needed.
What will happen during the session?
While you lie on the treatment table fully clothed; I will use a light touch, similar to the weight of a 10 cent coin, to palpate for core restrictions in your body. These can lie anywhere and are not confined to the head and spine. Clients often report many different experiences during a CST session, ranging from seeing colours, having memories of past experiences, or noticing movements or changes in their bodies. Each session is unique as the body's self-healing mechanism will address what is needed at that particular time.
How long is a session?
Sessions typically last for one hour though this can vary slightly.
How many treatments are needed?
I would generally recommend between 3-5 sessions, though this varies according to the nature of the problem. Some people use CST for maintaining good health, as a session helps them to relax and re-balance their body, find calmness and improve vitality.
